Care, enrichment, and connection beyond the academic day
Table of Contents
Cathedral’s Extended Day and after-school programs provide structured care, enrichment, and academic support that extend learning and community beyond the school day.
The Extended Day Ecosystem at Cathedral
Extended Day at Cathedral School for Boys is a coordinated set of programs designed to support students and families before and after the academic day. Together, these offerings create continuity, care, and opportunity, ensuring that boys are supported in a safe, engaging environment that reflects Cathedral’s values.
Rather than a single program, Extended Day functions as an ecosystem that includes care, enrichment, and academic support, each designed with developmental needs and family schedules in mind.
Aftercare
Aftercare provides a warm, structured environment from dismissal until 6:00 p.m. Boys have time to play, rest, and recharge through supervised free play, quiet activities, and healthy snacks.
The program emphasizes social development, independence, and balance at the end of the school day. Led by caring staff, Aftercare extends Cathedral’s culture of consistency and kindness, offering families peace of mind and students a place to connect.
Morning Care
Morning Care offers free, supervised support before school from 7:30 to 8:00 a.m. for students in Kindergarten through Grade 8. The program provides a calm start to the day through outdoor free play or quiet indoor activities.
Morning Care supports families with early schedules and helps boys arrive focused, settled, and ready to learn.
Enrichment Programs
Cathedral’s Enrichment program offers optional, fee-based after-school classes across all grade levels. Seasonal sessions include one-on-one music lessons and group classes such as art, chess, robotics, martial arts, and other interest-based offerings.
Enrichment allows boys to explore new passions, deepen existing interests, and connect with peers in joyful, low-pressure settings. These programs extend whole-boy learning beyond the classroom by supporting creativity, confidence, and exploration.
Study Hall (Upper School)
Study Hall provides Upper School students with a quiet, supportive environment to complete homework and develop executive functioning skills. Supervised by faculty or staff, the program emphasizes responsibility, organization, and independent work habits.
Study Hall supports students as academic demands increase, helping boys build skills they will carry into high school and beyond.
A Consistent, Values-Aligned Experience
Across all Extended Day offerings, Cathedral maintains clear expectations around safety, respect, and community care. Programs are intentionally aligned with the school’s mission and philosophy, ensuring that boys experience continuity in values, relationships, and expectations throughout the day.
Families may choose the combination of programs that best fits their needs, knowing that each option is designed to support student growth and well-being.
